Being able to articulate your opinion and point of view in a way that references literary elements and demonstrates a deeper understanding is a key part of studying literature and practicing English. Here, you are being asked to do so. This is an open-ended response, you are free to take it in a direction you choose as long as you can frame your thoughts in an articulate way and you can make it make sense for your classmates, who will be reading and perhaps replying to your response.

Consider the way McCarthy uses dialogue, syntax, and prose in The Road thus far, specifically in the interactions between The Man and The Boy, the Man and his Wife, and with the Stranger that The Man kills. Reflect on how these literary elements work together and what effect/impact this has on the reader (the reader, not yourself necessarily). Consider McCarthy's writer's craft and what his intentions are. (2 sentences)
