In this setup assignment, you will individually learn more about air and space missions and joint operations in preparation for a class discussion that will happen in week 3 of the course. Your work here will be evaluated by the instructor, and if your efforts are on target and compelling, your researched topic will be the focus of week 3’s discussion.
Research a topic related to air and space missions and joint operations and complete a one-page Assignment Synopsis. Specifically:
• Research your assigned topic and find an article that meets the following parameters.
• Topic. The topic of your article must align with your designated group’s focus area listed below and address joint airpower’s application in contemporary or emerging operational settings. Group assignments are:
• Group C – Airpower in irregular warfare, airpower in major combat operations, or IADS and the PLAAF (AIR-602S, Air and Space in Joint Operations course)
• Length. Your selected article must be between 6 and 12 pages long. If your selected article falls outside of these parameters, please contact your instructor to gain approval.

Your instructor will select three articles and their associated discussion questions for further review in Lesson 3. If your article and associated question are selected for inclusion in these discussions, be prepared to facilitate the discussion as your classmates learn more about the article you selected through the discussion question you developed.
