Post a brief analysis of what you learned from this unit’s assigned readings
Part 1: Post a brief analysis of what you learned from this unit’s assigned readings. Include at least 2 takeaways about gender identity and models of development. Consider and discuss both points through your unique point of view. Remember to cite the source of your information and reference it at the end of your post as well.
Part 2: In Laws of (Western) Thought, Wood (2018) states, “when classifying gender and sexuality, or any situation where we define an identity, such as sports teams, three laws come into play:
1. The law of identity states: Whatever is, is.
2. The law of contradiction states: Nothing can be and not be.
3. The law of the excluded middle, states: Everything must either be or not be.”
Arguably we accept these “laws” unconsciously or consciously. In the “real world,” what does this mean for our understanding and interpersonal relationships with people whose gender identity is non-binary? You might consider friendships, class, work, etc. in your reflection. Include APA in-text citations Unit #2 readings that support your point of view.
Part 3: Identify 1-2 key takeaways from the video in your Learning Resources titled The Gender-Fluid History of the Philippines . What is one issue you would like to know more about or one that you think should have been included in the talk? What are some similarities or differences in gender-fluid history in your country of origin or the country where you currently reside? Include APA Style in-text citations for Unit #2 readings and other credible sources that support your point of view in your response.
Peer Engagement
*Just a note to recall special instructions re: Peer Engagement posts. You will want each of your classmate replies to address at least one of the bullet points below.
Remember to circle back and substantively respond to two classmates by the due date specified in the syllabus and course calendar. Your peer engagement posts must go beyond summarizing and praising. To aid you in this endeavor, incorporate one or more of the following lines of thinking in your peer engagement posts, ensuring both a hearty, meaningful conversation and that your work meets criteria for substance and depth:
· Choose one or both of the takeaways your peer described in their Part 1 and offer your thoughts on why that concept is important and ground that takeaway in your own observations.
· Synthesize the takeaways your peer described in their Part 1 with what you mentioned in yours to coalesce a fuller understanding, providing examples to ground your point.
· Your peer identified an issue they’d like to know more about in their Part 3. Help them out by doing some research legwork and find and very briefly summarize the take home message of a related source.
