Week 8 Activity – Composing a Gripping Social Media Message
Scenario
After the security briefing with the team of correctional officers, it is time to go back to your office to work on a message to your external stakeholders. The message will be shared on social media to help raise awareness about the situation, solicit assistance in finding the missing individuals, and warn the public that the escaped inmate is highly dangerous and should not be approached by members of the public for any reason.

Chapter 10 in your textbook will help you to complete this activity.
Then, in a new document, complete the following:
Determine which social media platform is best for announcing the situation to the public.
In a paragraph of 4 to 6 sentences, describe which social media platform you selected, and why.
Write a clear, concise, and compelling social media message that will capture the attention of your audience.
Follow posting guidelines for your chosen platform (e.g. if you chose Twitter, use no more than 280 characters in your message).
Focus on conveying the most important and relevant information about the situation, including what members of the public can do to help and what actions they should avoid.
Use a strategic combination of appropriate attention-grabbers like images, graphics, hashtags, quotes, or captions to generate interest.
Consider the algorithm.
In a paragraph of 6 to 8 sentences, describe how the algorithm on your chosen platform is likely to show your message to the right audience, using examples to support your description. Did you use hashtags? Did you include the location of the situation, so the algorithm knows your message is relevant to those scrolling from Georgia?
Consider feedback.
In a paragraph of 4 to 6 sentences, summarize how you will prepare to respond to feedback on your social media post. How will you reply to comments that are left on your message? How will you successfully fire back at critics?
