Writing Question

Students will complete a research paper. In addition, your paper should include a cover page and an Annotated Bibliography. All citations must be in APA, MLA, or Chicago-Style, meaning cited with footnotes or parenthetical citations. Please review the “So You Want To Be A Historian?” documents in the Moodle course for more guidelines, tips, and tricks for writing the Capstone Paper.

Capstone Papers should include the following:

A Funnel Introduction that introduces the topic, the Big Idea it relates to, and finishes with a strong thesis statement.

Several body paragraphs that incorporate primary and secondary sources, contain historical examples and context, and the student’s own original analysis and interpretation.

A concluding paragraph that restates your main argument(s) and ideas in a manner that ties them back to a Big Idea.

I strongly recommend contacting the Mid Writing Center for additional feedback and assistance. They are a wonderful resource that you should take full advantage of!

Your Capstone Paper is required to pass the course. You must submit your Capstone Paper before submitting your Presentation.
