Then complete the Using Research in Your Report Assignment Purpose This activity will give you a chance to practice summarizing, paraphrasing, and quoting material to be used in your report from an article by following the APA method of citation. Tasks You will do two things for this assignment: 1. You will use the APA format and one of your articles to summarize, paraphrase, and quote material. Write material that you can use in the analysis section of the report 2. You will find a graphic that relates to your topic. Format the graphic correctly and then write a paragraph discussing the information the graphic shows. This should be information that you will use in your paper that refers to the graph. The paragraph should tell the reader why the graphic is important and what it shows. Remember to stay away from opinion. The information in your paragraph should fit in with your paper. APA Formatting Directions 1. Read the article as assigned; notate and highlight key pieces of information. 2. Using References in Word, add the article to your sources. 3. Write a one paragraph summary and then cite it correctly. 4. Write a paragraph that includes a direct quote and citation. 5. At the end of your document, insert a bibliography. Use of a Graphic Directions (use the same document as above) 1. Find a graphic you want to use in your paper 2. Insert it in your Word document and save 3. Add a title with figure number and source information 4. Write a paragraph in an analytical writing format that tells about the graphic and why it is important. What to submit You will have two paragraphs of content you plan to use in the analysis section of your paper. One paragraph will have a direct quote and one paragraph will be a summary of content from a source. Then you will have a graphic from a source that you plan to use in your paper. It should be formatted correctly with a title, figure number, and source information. Related to that graphic, you will have a paragraph you plan to include in your report and it should reference the graphic and explain what it is showing.
