For this assignment, you will be accessing one of three Unfolding Case Studies from the Global Genetics and Genomics CommunityLinks to an external site. website.

Each of the Unfolding Case Studies (UCS) has been created to emphasize key challenges that health care providers may face in clinical practice and, if applicable for a specific discipline, addresses one or more of the established genetic/genomic competencies.
To begin using G3C, click on Getting Started on the front page of the G3C
Navigate to the Global Genetics and Genomics Community Links to an external site.
Follow the Login or Register instructions by scrolling down and clicking on the yellow sticky note or in the upper right corner of the Home screen.
Once registered, go to the Cases tab and scroll down to find the selected case. Review the case objectives and follow the instructions to interact with the patient.
To select a case, enter the clinic and begin by reviewing the case materials located in the patient’s record. When ready, you will progress to the patient encounter and begin by selecting a question to ask the patient. Additional student activities associated with specific questions are located below the patient video. Supplementary patient materials, including those that the nurse gathers during the encounter, are located by icons in the box to the right and can be viewed at any time during the case.
At the end of the activity, you will be expected to provide recommendations for the patient. You do have the option to reset the case and start again.
The Scenarios:
Select one of the Unfolding Case Studies of interest to you. On the website will be more of the history of the patient in each one of these scenarios.
The three scenarios are:
1. Jennifer: Venous thromboembolism risk evaluation and cytochrome P450 enzyme CYP2C9 plus enzyme VKORC1 testing to guide treatment in an adult Caucasian female
2. Stephanie: Opioid adverse reaction management of an African American child
3. Carla: CYP2C19 testing in a Caucasian female for depression treatment selection
