Self Awareness.
Self Awareness.
For all discussions you are expected to post ONE initial response to the discussion questions described below and AT LEAST TWO follow-ups to one of your group member’s posts. You can and are encouraged to post more than this requirement since we are hoping to create a dialog. As I mentioned earlier, our collective experiences are one of the areas we as a group need to mine…as in gold mine! For more details with respect to the expectations in the posts, please review the syllabus and the scoring rubric, and reach out to your instructor.
Main Response requires two external references.
Secondary Responses to your classmates only require one reference and this reference may come from your reading materials.
1. Kaplan says that our professional passion is the essential rocket fuel that helps us overcome difficulties and work through dark times. To clarify our passion with respect to our careers, he has us describe our “best self.”
Take the time and reflect on this. Then share. Describe the time, the circumstances and the outcome…and what did you enjoy about it?
2. On your own, journal for yourself, what is your take away from the exercise? Be sure to consider the barriers that would hinder you from following career advice that would harness that passion. Now, address your emotional agility. David and Congleton identify ways we may get hooked by our thoughts and emotions and proceed to share 4 practices that would allow us to be more agile.
Describe instances that you may be hooked, and reflect on the practices that may allow you to be mindful of your inner experiences but not ‘hooked’ by them.
3. Emotional Intelligence and Self awareness are hot topics and Goleman states that nearly 90% of the difference between outstanding and average leaders is attributable to emotional factors. There is so much focus on us. However, we must not forget who we are in Christ. Use one of your uplifting scriptures that is your go to and write an encouragement to your colleagues.
2) Discussions (CLO 1-5)
Each week, participants are expected to participate regularly in discussions and to offer their contribution to the mix without negatively impacting others with unsubstantiated content. Importantly, as a Master’s level course, our collective experiences is one of the areas we as a group need to mine…as in gold mine! Individual experiences are just a small slice of reality and collectively, we can all learn from each other as we examine the research, the theoretical models, and how these all fit within our collective reality.
Guidelines for Discussions
You will be interacting with each other for the duration of the course. For all discussions you are expected to post ONE initial response to the discussion questions and AT LEAST TWO follow-ups to other members of the class. ALL POST should be supported by scholarly reference(s), including the secondary post to classmates.
You can and are encouraged to post more than this requirement. A large component of what we do as practitioners of business is to communicate. It clarifies our understanding and provides a measure of depth that is not accomplished without it. As a result, a large portion of your grade is dependent upon both the quality and quantity of your interaction.
Time is required for a conversation to emerge; therefore, do not post all of your required messages on the day of the deadline.
With respect to your posts, you must support your main responses with 2 references. With respect to responding to each other, consider using one of the following approaches:
Reflection about meaning: Describe thoughtfully what something means or new insights it provides or raises a question as a seed for clarification or further discussion.
Analysis: Discuss relevant themes, concepts, main ideas, components, or relationships among ideas. Or, identify hidden assumptions or fallacies in reasoning.
Elaboration: Build on ideas of others or ideas found in the readings by adding details, examples, a different viewpoint, or other relevant information.
Application: Provide examples of how principles or concepts can be applied to actual situations or discuss the implications of theory for practice.
Synthesis: Integrate multiple views to provide a summary, a new perspective, or a creative refashioning of ideas.
Evaluation: Assess the accuracy, reasonableness, or quality of ideas.
These secondary post to your classmates only require one supporting reference.
