The patient suffered severe brain damage, multiple fractures, and several episodes of ventricular tachycardia. After staying in critical care units for nearly 6 months, there is no improvement on the patient’s neurological functions. The patient requires continuous mechanical ventilation, continuous dopamin infusion and 24hr tube feeding. The patient is non-verbal and only shows facial grimace occasionally. The patient also suffered several disease related and hospital acquired complications, including seizures, pneumonia, and stage 4 pressure ulcers. The hospital administration and medical team notifies the family to make end of life plans. However, due to cultural belief, the patient’s family do not believe nor want to withdraw life support measures.
