When the sensor detects moisture (because the child has started to pee), an alarm pinned to their clothes goes off emitting a loud noise. The loud noise will wake the child. After several pairings, the child will begin waking when their bladder is full prior to the alarm going off and thus are able to get to the bathroom prior to have an accident.
