Example of this nursing problem is a patient handling the newly diagnoses of hypertension and having to make food and lifestyle chances. Medical practice only focuses on the medical problem. Things that are focused are on labs, imaging, and physiology status of the disease. In the hypertension example, it looking at Kidney functions, vascular studies, and medication regimen.

PICOT needs to be based on nursing practice problems, because it will show that the research question ties back to nursing practice. As mentioned before, nursing practice problem is patient based therefore making the PICOT nursing practice problem will help improve outcomes.
