Rubric–Grading a Practice Guideline This is 20% of the total grade. For this assignment you are to search for a current practice guideline which is being used. Once you have found the guideline you are to evaluate/grade the guidelines regarding the strength of the research as well as expert opinion processes used to develop the guidelines. Grade the literature on which the guideline was based. One question to be answered is how often do the researchers review the guideline? It is important to know all the criteria listed below before one can determine whether or not to incorporate the recommendations. Areas to Address/Consider Why did you choose the selected guideline? (Be sure you choose the Guideline, not the Summary of the Guideline) You will be using the AGREE II instrument as your appraisal guide. Explain in detail the AGREE II instrument. What grading method did you use to evaluate your chosen guideline? Was the grading taxonomy useful why or why not? What were your findings from the evaluation? Provide a score for each domain and a summary of the findings. Answer each question posed under each Domain in this section. Domain I: Scope and Purpose Was the purpose of the guideline described? Were the patients to whom the guideline is meant to apply described? Domain 2: Stakeholder Involvement Was the development group described? Domain 3: Rigor of Development How was the evidence selected? What evidence was selected? What were the methods used to formulate the recommendations? What is the procedure for updating the guideline? Domain 4: Clarity of Presentation Are key recommendations easily identifiable? Domain 5: Applicability Does the guideline provide advice and/or tools on how the recommendation can be put into practice? Was the guideline piloted? Domain 6: Editorial Independence Was conflict of interest discussed? Provide an APA formatted table with the first ten resources to formulate the guideline. Include the following in your table: citation, type of evidence, level of evidence (LOE pyramid/hierarchy), strength of evidence (level of evidence plus quality of evidence – see Chapter 4&5, Melnyk & Fineout-Overholt, 2019).
