Cultural Beliefs
Personal factors impact individuals’ response to their illness’s recommended therapy and treatment. These involve genetics, family medical history, and health practices. An individual with a family history of an ailment may be more cautious about averting it, an example of how they would evade transmitting the disease to forthcoming generations. The individual’s previous experiences, like overcoming a sickness, may also impact their perspective on upcoming health concerns and resilience.
Interpersonal connections and assistance networks are instances of life circumstances that involve others. A robust support system might assist an individual in dealing with illness. However, strained connections or insufficient support may hinder recovery. Encouragement and empathy from cherished ones might help someone adhere to their therapy sessions (Osokpo & Riegel, 2021). Cultural implications might be the most intricate. Society’s beliefs, values, and customs may influence health and illness. My society perceives health as a comprehensive notion highlighting mind, body, and spirit equilibrium. Diseases may disturb this equilibrium, necessitating medical and spiritual or sacramental treatment.
My culture incorporates comprehensive and spiritual elements into conversations about well-being and illness. An individual’s well-being relies on the balance between their intellect, physique, and soul and the lack of health issues. This is because we believe physical ailments are simply a component of well-being. It is typical to witness sickness as a disruption of this equilibrium and assign its origin to non-physiological sources (Osokpo & Riegel, 2021). It is widely believed that mental and emotional well-being influences physical health.
Furthermore, my culture does not personalize medical care. The extended clan and community work in unison to provide care and emotional support for the individual in need. Our health methods emphasize interconnectivity, emphasizing that an individual’s health and well-being are intrinsically linked to the community’s. We emphasize connectedness and believe connectivity is the solution to comprehending health. This collective approach nurtures resilience and unity in the face of sickness and highlights the requirement for contemporary treatment and customary healing practices.
