Criminal Justice Question
ASSIGNMENT reading questions from either chap 8 9 10 (ill post the textbook as google drive cause too big of doc to post )
Please submit two typed out questions (one point each) based on the reading material.
The purpose of this assessment is to encourage student to think critically about the material and explore individual inquiries with the instructor. Questions will be used by the instructor to address class issues with comprehension and assessed based on the contribution they make toward greater class or individual understanding of the material. If the student believes that reading is fairly comprehensive and they have no individual questions manifest, they should still ask a question the believe the class would benefit the most by asking. Questions should not be formed based on material that is explicit in the reading (often dubbed test questions); rather, they should demonstrate that the student did the reading and explore unaddressed issues. Pro tip: identify in the reading (via a page number) the content your questions is based upon and be detailed in how you express your question.
ASSIGNMENT 2- one unfamiliar word from either Chapter 8, 9, or 10
Many of the assigned readings contain unfamiliar words or phrases. This assignment presents a unique opportunity for students to integrate the lingo of the field into their vernacular. Each week with advanced readings will require students to:
Identify a word or phrase in the text that they are not familiar with,
Provide the sentence or context in which the word or phrased is used in the reading,
Provide the page number the word or phrase is used in the reading,
Define the word or phrase using a modern dictionary. Where multiple definitions exist, identify the definition that best fits with the context the word or phrase is used in the assign reading,
Put the definition for the word or phrase in your own words. Students should not use the same words to define the word or phrase, and
Craft a sentence of your using the word and phrase. Students should not use the sentence provided by the dictionary.
The professor expects that students will begin to integrate these words and phrases into other course assessments. Unfamiliar words or phrases will be assessed based on their relative difficulty and the completeness of the task. Where all words are familiar to the student, they should select the word or phrase that they think is of greatest importance to the assigned reading(s).
Assignment 3. – powerpoint or video lecture thoughts
Students are expected to watch the prepared lectures over weekly content. To encourage active listening, students are 1. Provided the lecture PowerPoints and 2. will type three thoughts the had during the lecture. Regarding the former, the instructor will provide students with a copy of the lecture PowerPoints to encourage comprehension and limit verbatim writing. Power-Points will be available in two PDF formats. The first will have one slide per page. The second will have three slides per page and a space for the student to take notes during the lecture.
In addition to the lecture PowerPoints, students will type three thoughts the have during the prepared lecture.
