GEB 6215: Peer Review for Informative Presentations (Online Presentation) NOTE: You will use this peer review in class to take notes on one presenter and complete the questions below; submit as a Word .docx (not .pdf or another format) in Canvas by the deadline. You will evaluate one of your classmate’s presentations, and then provide feedback. Take notes on what you observe during the presentation, and then complete the questions below. As you observe the presentation, you should take notes on what stands out to you, either what they do very well or what they need to improve, or anything else that seems apparent or helpful. Use the required number of sentences to respond to questions below. Submit this form, with your answers typed in. Do not delete any questions; just add in your responses. NOTE: The questions below are “yes/no/borderline” questions (yes is A/B level; borderline is C level, and no is D/F level). Also, provide written comments of 1-2 sentences to help the presenter identify their strengths as a presenter and also the areas they need to improve. Physical Delivery (not including vocal qualities): Write Yes/No/Borderline plus 1-2 sentences of explanation for each one. 1. Eye Contact: Does the presenter make consistent eye contact with the camera? Does the presenter seem to be reading from notes? 2. Posture: Does the presenter sit upright and confidently, without any distracting mannerisms (fidgeting, swiveling in their chair, etc.)? 3. Gestures: Are hand gestures visible and used effectively? 4. Confidence: Does the presenter exude confidence throughout their presentation? 5. Enthusiasm and Energy (body language): Does the presenter’s body language convey enthusiasm, energy, and/or interest throughout the presentation? Vocal Delivery and Expression: Write Yes/No/Borderline plus 1-2 sentences of explanation for each one. 1. Conversational quality: Does the presenter seem to speak naturally and easily, or does the speech sound more recited from memory or read from notes? 1 2. Variety: Does the presenter’s voice have any monotone qualities, or does the voice vary in emphasis, volume, rate, pitch, etc.? 3. Fluency: Does the presenter use words correctly and smoothly, or do they sometimes struggle with word choice? Are words enunciated and pronounced correctly? 4. Pauses/halting: Are pauses used strategically for emphasis, or are they nervous or unintentional or too long? 5. Filler non-words/words: Does the presenter use any “ums” or “uhs” or needlessly repeat ANY words (common examples: you know, right, basically)? 6. Enthusiasm and Energy (vocal): Does the presenter’s voice convey enthusiasm, energy, and/or interest? Structure and Content: Write Yes/No/Borderline plus 1-2 sentences of explanation for each one. 1. Does the presentation have a clear structure with the required sections: • Introduction o Professional greeting/position and responsibilities o Attention/need step o Purpose and preview of main topics • Body o Problem section including symptoms, effects and causes o Possible solutions • Conclusion o Summary and time frame o Memorable statement 2. Does the attention step grab your attention? 3. Does the presenter provide a clear summary? 4. Does the presenter end with a memorable statement and not a “that’s all folks” type of ending? 5. Do you notice any issues related to the content in the Body? 6. Did the presenter have an audience connection part and if so, what was it? 7. Question and Answer Section: Does the presenter ask for questions or feedback, and then respond appropriately, while maintaining all previous delivery standards? Overall: Write 2-3 sentences of explanation for each one. 1. Describe two speaking skills or content areas in the presentation that could use improvement and your strategies for how to improve. If you don’t observe any areas for improvement, choose two skills/content 2 areas that the speaker could “take to the next level” and your strategies for doing so. 2. Describe two speaking skills or content areas in the presentation that were strengths and reasons for your choice. 3
