Share how you’ve used critical thinking and/or behavioral ethics in your life. Use evidence from the sources.
Discuss an area from your assigned readings in the What You Need to Know section that stood out to you. Why did this catch your attention? Can you see this information affecting your personal or professional life?

RESPONSE 1———————This week, I have been struggling to complete our final assignments because I don’t understand the curriculum and have been wondering what the true point is of these homework assignments and quizzes. We spend so much time generating ideas and then writing them in discussion posts and essays that may never get seen again. And then, by the time we graduate, they might be useless because all of the data will be too old and need to be researched/reviewed again. I have done so badly on all of my quizzes this semester, and my sister suggested I look up some of the answers so that I get a better grade. I explained that it is unethical and counterproductive, and she replied that a lot of students do it. Although I am worried about my GPA, I am not going to cheat. I am also not going to be discouraged by my lower grade. Ever since high school, I have questioned the curriculum, and not only because I struggle with it sometimes, but because I know others do as well and that is one reason why cheating is so common.
In this week’s lesson on ethics, we learn about how moral actions are influenced by social and organizational pressures. Professionals and students face moral dilemmas every day, which prompts us to refer to the codes of conduct and APA guidelines to help make the right choices. This led me to wonder, how often do students or teachers think that there must be another successful learning and teaching method that works for those who struggle with the regular curriculum? I decided to look up psychological views on the curriculum, which led me to an article about service learning. Service learning is explained as an educational experience that allows undergraduate students to learn about psychology, social responsibility, and personal values. Through engagement in community service activities, students would earn credits, fulfill course requirements, and grow professionally and personally through hands-on experiences (Bringle, Ruiz, Brown, & Reeb 2016).
I feel as though I have done some of my own service learning and want to look more into it. I believe that I would learn better through actually studying and making a difference in real life situations and scenarios. I don’t think that learning online or on-campus effects the possibility of service learning being implemented in the psychology curriculum. It would be a dream if I learned about any psychological or ethical concept, and my homework was to engage in some type of activity that allowed me to understand and practice it. Writing essays about true experiences rather than hypothetical scenarios seems more beneficial to students and communities.
RESPONSE 2——————–This is something that I found exciting: people use network sites for self-presentation to make themselves appear to be someone they desired to be known to be that they desired or hoped to be. This is like people embellishing themselves so that people find them interesting and they are nothing like they are putting on social media.
