We are all have the ability to be leaders in some way within our personal and professional lives. This assignment is focused on exploring what it means to be a leader and the traits and styles that are associated with various leaders. More importantly, I want you to reflect upon your experiences—as well as the leadership traits, styles, and other ideas presented in the background readings—and how they come together to form your “leadership identity.”
After reviewing the background materials on leadership, reflect upon the ideas that resonate most with you in terms of leadership styles, traits, behaviors, influence, values, etc. Address the following prompts:
What three ideas from the leadership reading do you believe are most important to you as a leader?
Explain why you think this idea is important to your leadership identity.
Share a personal or professional experience that connects to each idea you selected from the reading.
Using the ideas from the background reading, how can you strengthen your leadership identity?
Assignment Expectations
Use concepts from the modular background readings as well as any good quality resources you can find.
Cite all sources within the text and in a reference list at the end of the paper.
Length: minimum of 2 pages double-spaced and typed.
The following items will be assessed in particular:
Your ability to follow prescribed assignment content guidelines.
Your ability to apply the basic concepts to the questions.
Some in-text references to the modular background readings (APA formatting).
Grammar, punctuation, and sentence clarity.
The paper should address each element of the assignment. Remember to support your answers with solid references, including the Background readings.
