POST 2 ; Do you think that people who claim religion are happier than people who claim atheism? The article on Thomas Aquinas states, “This world is too plagued with unsatisfied desires to achieve that ultimate good which we all seek by nature. Furthermore, God has basically created us with a desire to come to perfect knowledge of Him, but this is hidden from us while in our mortal bodies.” Some would argue Atheist individuals may be happier because, in a sense, they are free. No worry of having a GOD to worry about or feeling scared to go to h*ll for sinning. They live their lives according to their standards. Biased individuals may imply atheists are usually “evil” or careless, but many would argue that they are just like anyone else. They have a conscience and know “right” from “wrong”. Just because they do not believe in a GOD or God’s, that does not automatically indicate they are bad or unjust individuals. I’m thinking, for example, about the pain sometimes caused by religion and religious people POST 4; The article “The Role of Happiness in the World Religions” mentions that some religious perspectives see happiness as achievable in this life, while others place greater emphasis on happiness in the afterlife. How might these different views influence people’s priorities and actions in their current lives?
