Concert Report/Introduction to Music (990)
You submit your papers on Blackboard. Work on your paper on computer using MS Word or Google Docs; it’s best to prepare a first draft, edit it, and then save a final version, which you submit on Blackboard. [As you know from RHET 1311 Composition 1, a paper is different than a Discussion Board or Journal. Writing a paper means using word processing software, not just typing into a text box.] Please follow these formatting conventions:
A file name for the document that follows this convention: YourLastName_titleofpaper. Here’s an example of a file name I might create for myself: Bunting_ Contrasting Musical Examples. Make sure to include your last name as the first part of the file name.
Page numbers and your name in headers on all subsequent pages. (If you’re not familiar with how to do this in MS Word, learn here https://goo.gl/70t3RF .)
Double-spaced, readable, 12-point type. Margins no larger than 1 inch.
Submit the paper in .doc or .docx (MS Word) as the preferred format. Example: Holzer_ Musical Identity.docx If you are not able to do so in MS Word, you may use .rtf (Rich Text Format). Remember, all UA Little Rock students are eligible to install a free copy of MS Office on a personal computer. Details here http://ualr.edu/itservices/office365-ualr/office365-students/
Rubric is provided for each written assignment. Please read carefully before turning in your completed work.
Plagiarism is forbidden. Please remember the academic integrity policy stated in the syllabus. Plagiarism will be penalized severely. Make sure that the work you submit for this course is your own. It’s important to think for yourself, write your own work, and do everything you can to learn and develop your skills and knowledge.
Students may seek assistance by submitting a paper electronically to the OWL (Online Writing Lab). Make sure that the document is saved as a .doc and not any other formats such as .docx or .rtf. Then e-mail the document as an attachment to [email protected] .
Visit the Online Writing Lab https://ualr.edu/writingcenter/home/owl/ for more information about the services they provide.
