Select a subject interesting to you and instructive for your audience. You will prepare a 5-6minute speech on this subject. Speeches outside the time limit will receive a penalty.
2. The speech should include:
a. an introduction which includes all elements of a good introduction;
b. an organized body with two or three main points which are supported by evidence from a qualified source;
c. a conclusion which summarizes the main ideas and brings your speech to a natural close for you and your audience;
d. transitions throughout the speech to enhance message clarity.
3. You may use one (1) note card (no larger than 5.5”x8.5”) during your speech and this note card may only contain up to 120 words(key words and phrases). Full sentences and paragraphs are not allowed on the note card. Note cards will be checked and grading points given as appropriate.
4. Use at least two (2) researchsources of information, other than yourself. These sources must be listed in correct bibliographic form(MLA style) at the end of the outline. If you use photographs, you must cite the picture, the photographer and/or web site of origin in the Works Cited section of your outline.
5. You are required to speak extemporaneously, without reading or memorization. Practice the speech out loud several times before your actual presentation (see Step 10 handout).
6. You will submit the outlinein Canvas, as a draft (acomplete draft) in the Submit Informative OR DemonstrationSpeech Outline area. The outline should be according to the guidelines and free from grammatical, spelling and typing errors.After you submit the Draft, I will provide comments back to you so that you will be able to revise the Draft to make it better and stronger before you submit the Final version before the speech session.
