Financial SMART Goals Worksheet Information:

Improving your financial life requires planning, and that starts with setting SMART financial goals:

Specific: A specific financial goal has a much greater chance of being accomplished than a general financial goal.

Measurable: Establish criteria for measuring progress toward the attainment of each financial goal you set. Ask yourself: How will I know when the result has been achieved? How will I verify the achievement/performance of this financial goal?

Attainable: Is your financial goal attainable? That means investigating whether the financial goal really is acceptable to you. You weigh the effort, time, and other costs your financial goal will take against the profits and the other obligations and priorities you have in life.

Realistic: A financial goal can be both high and realistic; you are the only one who can decide just how high your financial goal should be. But be sure that every financial goal represents substantial progress, so “set the bar” high.

Time-bound: Creates a sense of urgency. Knowing you have to accomplish a task at a particular time makes you accountable for what needs to be done by when. How much needs to be saved by when and take the steps necessary to meet those timelines.

You will use the MS Word Week 2 SMART Goals Worksheet template to analyze a short (1 year or less), intermediate (2-5 years), and long-term (6+ years) financial goal you would like to accomplish.

Be as thorough as possible when filling in the Word document template, and remember, this is an academic assignment, so no “text-talk,” no conversational tone, and ABOVE ALL OTHER THINGS… don’t plagiarize!! Lastly, spell-check and proofread your work! Failure to follow these steps will negatively impact your grade.
