Assessment Instructions
You will need to write an essay of 2000 words based on the following requirements.
Taking the perspective of the IT manager of an organisation of your choice, discuss the implementation of a new information system or new technological innovation within the organisation. You will choose one of the organisations listed in the 15 topic areas given in the group presentation component of the assessment. If you would like to use a different topic, you will need to consult the module coordinator beforehand.
Your essay should discuss how to assess the introduction and use of a new technological innovation within the organisation. Each point that you make needs to be justified by reference to the theory/readings presented in the module.
Structure/Formatting
The essay should contain the following sections:
1.Abstract
Provide an overview of the main points of the essay, outlining your recommendations as IT manager.
2.Introduction
Present an introduction to the context of the essay and the objectives you will fulfil in the essay.
3.Background and Overview
Present the following information –

Describe the business of the organisation in as much detail as possible, researching this information using any resources available to you: e.g. the Internet, white papers, articles, newspapers, magazines, blogs and other published publicly available outputs. Be sure to document your sources through the references section (bibliography) at the end of your report and through footnotes as well.

Describe the technological innovation in as much detail as possible, researching this information using any resources available to you: e.g. the Internet, white papers, articles, newspapers, magazines, blogs and other published publicly available outputs. 4.Using “Leavitt’s Diamond”, discuss how this framework can help you assess issues that the implementation of the new system or technology could introduce into the organisation.
5.Explore how and why “resistance to change” occurs and what can be practically done to manage it.
6.Reflect on the pros and cons of using a planned or emergent approach to change management.
7.Recommendations:
Given the information presented in the document, give some recommendations on ways in which you recommend proceeding with the implementation of the new system or technology.
