Get it written →This exercise will get you into the nuts and bolts of your essay. Instead of looking at the entire draft, it focuses on particular parts, just as suggested in the revision overview.
At the end of this assignment, you’ll have two versions of your essay: a Before revision version and an After revision version.
Follow the steps below
- Create a new version of your essay by renaming it with “2” or some other naming convention so you can tell which was the original and which is the revision. Example of new name: “Essay 1 ver 2” or “Essay 1 revision 1.
- Using the suggestions on the Project One: RD General Feedback Links to an external site. slide and the sample essays, complete the following on your “ver 2” copy
-
- For at least 15 minutes per recommendation (on specificity, transitions, metaphors, and complexity — listed at the end of revision slideshow), work on incorporating each of them into your revised draft.
- Create two tables labeled Original and Revised, and copy and paste the original essay and the revision into the appropriate columns (see below for example).
- After completing the table, add a paragraph or two at the bottom of it, discussing what worked in your revision and what you need to continue to work on — or new areas you’d like to address.
- Submit this document (tables and paragraph/s) to this assignment.
