It is often misunderstood what the role is of a Police Officer. Some say he or she is a “warrior in blue”, others will define the role as a public servant there to serve. What is your interpretation of the role of a Police Officer? Looking at the theories learned, Kohlberg and Gilligan’s, what would you identify as the virtue of ethics? Please be specific as to why you characterize this role as you do.

Discuss your thoughts on the role of the attorneys in a criminal case. Every defendant is entitled to an attorney if he or she cannot afford one; however, do you feel that a public defender is as good as a private attorney who may cost thousands of dollars? Is the system fair to allow a public defender versus a private attorney? Why or why not?
