AS THE QUALITY MANAGER FOR LIVEWELL HOSPITAL, YOU HAVE SIGNIFICANTLY IMPACTED THE HOSPITAL’S QUALITY OF SERVICES IN THE PAST FIVE YEARS. YOU HELPED THE FACILITY TO ESTABLISH A CDI PROGRAM TO IMPROVE CLINICAL DOCUMENTATION PRACTICES, IMPLEMENTED PROTOCOLS TO DECREASE THE HAI RATE, AND IDENTIFIED QUALITY DATA TO CAPTURE FOR ANALYSIS AND DECISION-MAKING. LIVEWELL HOSPITAL IS VERY PROUD OF THE WORK YOU HAVE DONE AND RECENTLY PRESENTED YOU WITH AN AWARD DURING THE FACILITY’S LAST DEPARTMENTAL MEETING.

Annie Crawford, the marketing director for the state’s health information association, read about your work and its reward on the hospital’s website. She has called to invite you to conduct a presentation at the state’s health information association meeting on how internal and external healthcare requirements impact quality patient care. The meeting is in two months. You accept the invitation and begin to think about the presentation. You decide to create a fact sheet on the impact of public health trends, internal healthcare statistics, and external regulatory and accrediting standards on quality healthcare. The fact sheet will serve as an educational resource for the meeting attendees.
