Applied Evidence-Based Project and Practicum NRS-465- Peer participation DQ 1

In order to introduce and spread the evidence-based change proposal, I think it would be best to start small. Initially, I needed to investigate the work culture, ideas and mindset of the department to decide on what would be the best approach to my topic. The first person I introduced my topic to would be my preceptor; she is one of the supervisors for the department and gave me a ton of information on what the department does, needs and currents practices. After discussing my change proposal with her, she believed including the HOUDINI protocol would be appropriate and useful to the department. After completing more research on the topic and creating a plan, I presented the topic to a few of the nurses that work on the floor. It is important to include the nurses using this protocol, their participation in clinical research and evidenced-based changes to enhance and conduct high-quality care (Mulkey, 2021). These are two internal groups of people I would start off with. To spread my proposal to have the change approved and move forward, I would present the topic to the department’s educator and director. These two individuals have an influence on what changes are made within the department. If the change is successful, an external group I would introduce this change to would be the emergency nurses association. They represent emergency nurses internationally and address issues relevant to emergency care, publish new guidelines and provide education for emergency department nurses (Anonymous, 2024). Each group would be communicated with differently, but all would be approached with respect. I would approach my preceptor and bedside nurses more casually compared to the way I would approach the educator and director. The meeting with the educator and director would be semi-formal with a level of professionalism. My communication with the emergency nurses association would be like the emergency nurses association, with a higher level of professionalism. Each interaction would allow time for discussion on the proposal and would accept constructive criticsm on the change with grace.
