Political and Policy Landscape Presentation
MY PART IS ONLY THE ONE PARAGRAPH; POLITICS, POLICIES AND RESOURCES. I PUT STARS IN THE FRONT AND AT THE END OF THE PARAGRAPH I AM ASSIGNED TO. For your final assignment in this class, you will be partaking in a group presentation on a topic related to our course content. Your group will consist of 4-5 students, and the presentation will be 8-10 minutes in length. You will present during the last week of class. You are expected to collaborate with the other members of your group and to contribute to the overall presentation, in terms of delineating and dividing the work to be done, doing research on the group’s topic, preparing the physical aspects of the presentation (PowerPoint, other audio-visuals, handouts, etc.), and actually presenting. Not all members have to do every aspect of this work, but the work should be fairly and evenly divided. If one member would prefer not to present, but is willing to do more of the research, that would be ok as long as all members are in agreement. Your presentation will be graded on the following criteria:
-General Background & History: Give the background and development of this issue over time. Connect this issue with other relevant historical moments. How has this issue evolved, and in what ways has it become important in recent times? (10%)
-Stakeholders: In what ways are communities of Color impacted by this issue? In what ways does this issue touch on race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, class, ability, citizenship status, etc.? Think about this issue intersectionally. (10%)
****-Politics, Policies, & Resources: What are the political considerations and current policies that most impact this issue? Are there proposed policies that would change this? How can people who are affected by this issue get help? What resources exist for those affected? How can people who want to help contribute to meaningful change? (10%)******
-Spotlight on Community Organizations: What are some groups that are working on these issues? Are they tackling them in creative and innovative ways? How did they get started? What are their goals and strategies? What are their challenges (10%)
-Overall Presentation: Did you present the topic in a clear, creative, and engaging way? Did you provide audio-visuals or handouts to make it more interesting? Did you include examples of artivism? Did you include a works cited page? (10%)
-Your Individual Contribution: What specific aspects of the presentation did you contribute to, and how so? How did you work with the other group members to propel the project forward? In what ways did you show leadership and teamwork in your group? (50%)
