Select the country of your choice. 2. Collect the real-world macroeconomic datasets. (use following website to collect the data https://databank.worldbank.org/source/world-development-indicators). 3. Conduct descriptive and graphical analysis to examine trends and relationships between variables such as GDP, consumption, investment, inflation, and unemployment. 4. Then interpret their findings and draw conclusions about the state of the economy. Assignment Components: 1. Data Selection: Please collect the data from the given website for your country of choice for the following variables. Collect the data for atleast 20 years. (a) GDP (b) Inflation (c) Unemployment (d) interest rates (e) government spending (f) exports (g) imports, 2. Data Cleaning: to clean and organize the data to ensure accuracy and consistency. This may involve removing missing or erroneous data points, formatting variables appropriately, and creating a tidy data set suitable for analysis. 3. Descriptive Analysis: Conduct descriptive analysis of the macroeconomic data to summarize key trends and patterns over time. This may include generating summary statistics (mean, median, standard deviation etc), creating time series plots, and identifying notable changes or fluctuations in the data series. Macroeconomics Page 5. Interpretation and Conclusion: Interpret your findings and draw conclusions about the state of the economy based on analysis. 2 4. Correlation Analysis: Explore relationships between different macroeconomic variables by calculating correlation coefficients and creating scatterplots or correlation matrices. Then interpret the strength and direction of the correlations and discuss potential economic explanations for observed relationships. General Instructions for Assignment: 1. Check spelling and ensure consistency of layout, headings, typestyles and sizes: ▪ Font should be Times New Roman, 12 ▪ Assignment should be 1.5 line spacing ▪ Main Headings – Size 16, Capital and Bold ▪ Sub-Headings – Size 14, Underlined, Bold ▪ Page Margins 1.25” on all the sides. ▪ Add number of pages (excluding the cover page) 2. Add a Table of Contents. 3. Produce a Cover page, which should have the University Name, Department Name, Assignment Title, your full name and ID number. Border the whole page. Some Guidance on Assignment Writing: 1. Moodle : The assignment must be submitted through Turnitin links created in Moodle and also submit print copy. 5. Plagiarism: Do not plagiarise – Plagiarised coursework could result in a no grade being awarded for the subject. Work which submitted for assessment must be your own work. You must recognize and reference any material from books, articles or websites that you incorporate into your assignment. (2006), Principles of Economics, Thomson South-Western, page 68. Assessment Guide: Criteria A An excellent answer. Shows evidence of relevant reading; illustrates and applies appropriate examples; constructs logical analysis and argument; draws to an appropriate conclusion. B As for A grade but lacks in comparison, either in terms of depth of argument, the appropriateness of examples, or the logic and conclusion; evidence of relevant reading must be shown. C Demonstrates good knowledge of some of the principles and theories involved. Limited analysis, evaluation and research. D Worthy of a pass but is weaker in terms of depth, logic and conclusion to the argument used; no/poor examples and illustrations; tends to be more descriptive rather than analytical; limited evidence of relevant reading F Not worthy of a pass but does contain some relevant argument; tends to be descriptive.
