Use the two readings provided this week, the internet and the chapter to share an example of working health education into academic subjects for middle school students.

5. Activity Summary: I did a science experiment where students use dirty hands to touch bread, then wash their hands and touch bread. They put the bread samples in ziploc bags and note the mold growth on the samples. This meets the standard above and as well addresses a science lesson on germs and the scientific method. Adaptation for Equity and Diversity: I might have a student with special motor needs that cannot do independent hand washing so we could assign a hand buddy to help. Luckily, there are not cultural or gender-based biases in hand washing.
