Hello everyone! My name is Jameka, I am currently in my junior year, and I am majoring in psychology. I currently work in a treatment center and have come to love the help we provide to our clients. I aim to stay in the treatment field and become a clinical director once I obtain my master’s. My expectation from this course is to gain more knowledge about how the mind works, like what goes into decision-making and our thought processes. In five years, I hope to have my master’s in psychology and work at or towards my dream career. I would also like to move out of Miami, as I have lived here all my life and would like to live somewhere not as busy as Miami. I said I would like to be a clinical director but honestly, I am indecisive. I would also like to become a therapist because I love being a listening ear and helping others work through their problems. Whatever career I do choose I know it would be one where I could help others.

PART 2:

I chose this course because I am always up to learning new and interesting things, especially when it has to do with how the human mind works. I hope to obtain valuable and useful knowledge of cognitive processes. I was enthusiastic about this course until I read the former students’ tips and advice for this course. It has made me a little nervous, but I am still excited and do not plan to drop the course. Although the tips did help with what to expect and how I should study and use my time wisely.

Daniela: My major is Psychology with an ABA track and I am currently a Senior, expecting to graduate by the end of this semester. My expectation from this course is to have a better understanding of the cognitive part of our brain and how it influences the way we think and act, as my major is focused on ABA, I do not get to really study different skills and parts of the brain. After five years, I see myself working on building a daycare where children would not only be learning basic concepts such as letters, numbers, etc., but I also want to make it a place where I apply psychology concepts (mostly ABA concepts) to help children regulate and become emotionally intelligent creatures as I think these would help them to succeed in different parts of their lives as they grow up. The reason I am taking this class, as I stated before, is to understand more about how cognitive skills develop and how they influence the way we think and therefore, act.
