THM340 EVENT AND CONFERENCE MANAGEMENT EVENTS CASE STUDY ASSIGNMENT Due: (EXAM WEEK) Aim: The primary objective of this event management assignment is to equip students with practical knowledge and skills related to organization and management of ongoing events. By selecting an existing event, students will gain insights into the complexities of event planning, execution, and evaluation. Description: In this assignment, students will explore the multifaceted world of event management. They will choose an ongoing event from any events category (e.g., music concert, corporate conference, charity fundraiser, sports tournament) and explore various aspects, they will explore various aspects, from conceptualization to pre- and post-event analysis. The assignment encourages critical thinking, creativity, and attention to detail. To get a better and more detailed understanding of all aspects of organizing and promoting an event, each student is going to do a research and write a report and do a presentation of their selected event. You have to deliver two things for this assignment: – written report – presentation: 10-15 minute pitch + ‘defense’ Guidelines for the Written Report: The information below serves as a basic guideline of a report includes: • Title page: The title page includes a descriptive title (not just “Report”), Student’s name, class and section numbers, and date of submission. • Introduction • Body (e.g., method, findings, research, results) • Conclusions • References: This list includes only the sources cited in the text. If you want to include other, non-cited sources, then call this section Bibliography. Make sure that your answer: • each question in about 500-700 words • is logical and coherent; • has clear connections between sentences and paragraphs; and • is written correctly giving adequate consideration to your expression, style and presentation. • provide all necessary information with statistics and charts. • provide pictures if necessary. Legal issues, safety and health, sustainability of the event (is this important to you or not?) Who is it being held for? What type of catering is used on site and at the event? What are the cost and benefits to stakeholders? Why is the event being held? Where and when will it be held? Why was the location chosen? What other major events are held at the city? Time frame of the event. What is the economic, social, political and environmental impact of the event? Negative and Positive impacts of the event. What is the Cost-benefit analysis of an event by comparing intangible and tangible expenses and income (full budget). (Provide a table) How many people attended the event, where will the attendees accommodate.(hotel, motel, at the site tents) How is the event being marketed, marketing plan? Being promoted to the public, or to targeted attendees, or to stakeholders. And anything which you find valuable for the event??
