FIVE SUCCINCT STATEMENTS
To prepare:
In professional writing, you will write an overview of the articles you read in one succinct sentence to let your reader know the quality of evidence in the research study you are reporting. In one sentence, you will tell the surname of the researcher, the date of their research, who their participants/sample were, the methodology of the study, and at least one finding. Review the Summary and Critique/Analysis resources. Read five abstracts for research studies relevant to your dissertation topic (they can be the ones you identified in Modules 1 and 2). Then, try to summarize the key information about each study in one sentence. Here is an example of what you will do, followed by an analysis (you only need to write the initial sentence):
In a qualitative exploratory case study, Ray and Edwards (2017) interviewed 12 technology specialists in a high school in the Midwest and found that the number one indicator of successful technology integration was the social media footprint of the teachers.
In a qualitative exploratory case study [methodology of the study] Ray and Edwards [researchers] (2017) [date] interviewed [data collection] 12 technology specialists in a high school in the Midwest [participants] and found that the number one indicator of successful technology integration was the social media footprint of the teachers [finding].
A title page for your paper including the title of your paper, your name, Walden University, the course title and name, the date, and your Instructor’s name.
A heading on the content page indicating the title of your proposed dissertation or the proposed dissertation topic, followed by one summary sentence for each of five articles that includes the researcher, date of publication, methodology, sample/participants, data collection method, and one finding.
