Assignment #1 (25 points total) Case Study Gabriel is a 4-year-old Hispanic male who has been diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) and Speech Delay. Gabriel’s medical records indicate that he has a history of seizures, which usually begin by jerking movements in his arms and legs. Gabriel currently lives with his mother, who is increasingly concerned about his lack of appropriate social interaction with peers at school. He is often isolated and bullied because he does not know how to communicate with others without engaging in physically aggressive behaviors. He kicks with both feet and pulls on peer’s clothing items as a means to gain attention/interaction. Gabriel has a difficult time engaging with routine tasks as well. In the school setting, he consistently refuses to use a pencil and paper, and in the home, he refuses to get dressed in the morning before school. Although Gabriel has received speech therapy for the past year, he has shown minimal improvement.
