Final Project The final project should highlight the knowledge and understanding acquired during the course in addition to the skills acquired in the visualization tool. You have practiced using the visualization concepts and skills throughout the course. The final project should be your best work that you could submit as a work sample/as a part of the portfolio to a potential employer. The student is expected to: Data • • • • • Work in depth with the data source, which hasn’t been used in the previous assignments. Describe the data content, variables and the story being told. How was the data acquired? What kind of techniques were used to prepare the data? Links for the data sources should be included in the written report. Visualization • • • Visualizations could highlight (but not limited to): 1. Comparisons 2. Maps 3. Small-multiples technique 4. Correlate variables (scatter plots) 5. Time series Explain the use of visual cues in each visualization Create a dashboard that tells the story using the individual visualizations. Write a summary of the project and describe the insights gained from the visualizations and the dashboard. The project result should be in the MS word format and include at least 8 pages (single spaced). *Additional consideration will be given for the use of filters in your visualizations and dashboard.
