Research methods have been key elements for the evolution and development of the nursing profession and their application based on practical or clinical evidence has made it possible to achieve high levels of performance and competence in patient, family, and community care. community. Certainly, research methods from the qualitative or quantitative aspect with specific characteristics have shown us true work tools to collect information and at the same time to define appropriate application methods in health care.
I consider as a health professional that, faced with the challenge of achieving higher levels of care and knowledge, we must make hypotheses to seek solutions to various internal and external aspects that we face daily as well as modify the behavior of health problems. To do so, we rely on valuable elements that range from the observation of different phenomena and variables to the use of hypotheses to describe a fact, this type of research is widely used in our professional environment and is considered descriptive, observational, and high fidelity.
Obviously when we observe or monitor variables that define an impact on our patients, we are compromising the relationship between all the aspects that define the quality of the service or care provided and the level of effectiveness and patient satisfaction.
In my experience, the knowledge of scientific research has helped me a lot to understand and achieve the correct intervention on a given health problem. I can show the effectiveness of health education in an indigenous population where I work by using and correlating several variables that constituted a habitual behavior in the lifestyle of the population and that were causing the high incidence of diarrheal disease, for this purpose a descriptive research method was used.
This method provides our field with detailed and exquisite knowledge of each phenomenon and at the same time allows us a professional, comprehensive approach with little margin for error, being one of the most used today.
Research that bases its strategy on the qualitative aspect seeks to address a phenomenon or problem to understand its development with a high influence or bias of the researchers and this is considered not so effective when evaluating the final results, however, they are widely used and have contributed to the development of contemporary nursing.

Classification of Research Methodology in Nursing Research.
Research processes are essential tools used by scientists to gather information and data in order to respond to questions and make inferences from their investigations. The application of research methods in the nursing field is a prerequisite for the validity, reliability, and accuracy of research results. Nursing research has progressed over time, and the techniques employed to do so have also grown more intricate. As nursing research advances, new approaches have been developed to tackle novel problems and improve our understanding of the corpus of already available knowledge (V & Edison, 2021). The two main types of research approaches utilized in nursing are qualitative and quantitative. The kind of data that is gathered and examined is the primary distinction between these two strategies. A precondition for doing data-driven quantitative research is collecting and evaluating numerical data. In order to collect data for this study, surveys and experimental techniques like randomized controlled trials are frequently used. These techniques can look at a variety of subjects, including patient care, health outcomes, and the efficiency of various drugs or therapies (Jensen, 2020).
Using non-numerical data to learn more and develop insights into a certain topic is known as qualitative research. Research on difficult and complicated subjects that are easier to measure with quantitative techniques is frequently carried out with it. In order to collect data for this study, focus groups, interviews, and observational techniques are frequently employed. Qualitative research may be useful when studying complicated phenomena, such as how patients interact with healthcare providers, how they feel during treatment, or how culture affects such services. Treatments or therapies may be developed utilizing the data acquired from qualitative research in order to enhance the standard of care or the patient experience (Jensen, 2020).
Nursing research makes extensive use of a wide range of approaches in addition to quantitative and qualitative research procedures. To fully understand a phenomena, mixed methods research combines quantitative and qualitative techniques into a single study. Considering a subject from many angles may help you see it from a fresh angle. In order to enable immediate application of the findings in clinical settings, action research is utilized in healthcare settings or organizations to address specific issues. To provide a single summary, data from several research are combined using meta-analytic techniques called systematic reviews. This review may provide an enhanced comprehension of the present state of knowledge for a certain topic or issue (Þrmen, 2020).
Knowing the many research methodologies utilized in nursing research is crucial to choose the method that best meets the study’s goals. Action research, mixed methods, quantitative, qualitative, and systematic reviews are some of the ways that may be used to investigate a wide range of themes pertaining to nursing care and healthcare outcomes. Every approach has advantages and disadvantages. Several strategies could be used, depending on how complex the research subject is. All of the strategies might offer insightful information on the study issue. Scientists must determine how well the data they have gathered fits the study subject and how well it was obtained before beginning any kind of analysis (Þrmen, 2020). Through comprehension and use of relevant research methodologies, investigators may guarantee the reliability and authenticity of their conclusions.
