Overview: Neuroscience of Addiction in Psychiatry
In this course, students have been reviewing and learning about the neuroanatomy, neurobiology, and cellular function of the brain. This knowledge is applied through the following learning activity aimed at solidifying the subject matter. In this activity, students will choose one of three questions related to addiction pathways and theories of addiction. Please follow the instructions below to get started.

- Describe the three primary circuits involved in chronic exposure upon which all drugs of abuse act
- Describe the neural pathways underlying acute drug reward, tolerance, and withdrawal (address these separately within this response)
- Choose one theory of addiction and share the science behind the theory
