1. Use Microsoft Access to create a database of 5 existing (laws) and 5 pending (bills) legislation relevant to Internet privacy. Find some in both the House and Senate. Use the following fields:

Bill or Law No.

Bill or Law Name

Sponsor

Date Introduced

House (make this a Yes/No field and check box if it is in the House)

Senate (make this a Yes/No field and check box if it is in the Senate)

Summary (make this a memo field ) You can copy and paste a small description of the bill or law

Print the table and the structure. To print the structure, display the design view, press ALT+PrintScreen. Open MS Word and click Paste.

2. After creating the structure, create a form (be sure to include a header with a title and your name). You may enter data in either the datasheet view or the form. By creating a form, you will automatically have a table (add your name in one field of the table). Print the form.

3. Create any type of report. Print the report. Make sure everything looks attractive and the form should fit on the page. (May want to use landscape)

4. Go to relevant government websites to find statistics on Internet usage (try to find statistics on the past 10 years). These websites may be helpful:

http:\www.census.gov (pay particular attention to Abstracts in Brief)

Find out the following:

The increase in the number of Internet users, both at home and at work

The amount of hours or intensity of use

You may be able to copy and paste your data into a spreadsheet rather than type it. Then prepare a column chart displaying the amount of users at home and at work over the past 10 years. Prepare a bar chart showing the intensity of use (number of hours) over the past 10 years. Print the 2 charts.

5. Create a PowerPoint presentation that contains at least 6 slides. Include the following:

1. Title slide (include your name in the subtitle placeholder)

2. Two slides showing the Internet usage data and charts from the above research in step 4; use the Title and Content layout, then chose the 2nd icon to insert a chart, add your data

3. Two slides containing a Smart Art Graphic summarizing the advantages and disadvantages of various privacy laws to both the company and the consumer (one slide of each)

4. Slide citing references used.

You should include an image, animations, and transitions. This part should be printed as 2 handouts per page and emailed to: [email protected]. You should have a total of 6 slides (you may have more slides if needed)
