For this presentation, you will focus on explaining the use and limitations of surveillance systems and national surveys as it relates to your chosen area of analysis by addressing the population health issue on which you based your data. You will be giving a timed, narrated PowerPoint presentation. Only slides will be shown, and your voice heard. This style mimics a very brief webinar but without the synchronous chat or question format of the audience typically found in a webinar. The webinar format is a skill a scholar practitioner in your field should become comfortable with. Additionally, you are demonstrating your ability to communicate to effect change across a range of sectors and settings as well as synthesize and translate findings from data.
The time consideration for this is very strict. You may not exceed three minutes. Consider approximately 30 seconds per slide for a total of 6 slides. Do not include slide transition or video in your slides. Be sure only your voice is heard without distractions from outside sources.
Parameters
The slides should be static. Do not add any additional movement, sound, animation or enhanced media to the slides. Presentations are limited to 3 minutes maximum. Presentations will be deducted 20% for any that exceed 3 minutes. An additional 20 percent per minute deduction will be deducted for each subsequent minute exceeded. After 7 minutes and 59 seconds, the presentation will receive a zero.
Presentations are to be spoken in English.
Presentations start when the first slide and narration begin. Be sure your narration and first slide start together.
