Get it written →Please read the play “Antigone” By Sophocles http://classics.mit.edu/Sophocles/antigone.html
Also read “Trifles” By Susan Glaspell https://www.one-act-plays.com/dramas/trifles.html
Instructions : read two plays, and write a summary of each, identifying symbols and integrating lines from the plays that anticipate development or dénouement, flashbacks, and foreshadowing of events, etc.. Consider the ethos, message, and purpose achieved by the playwrights, the message, and the purpose of the stories relayed as plays. Because of the critical framework we rely on for analyzing these plays, Ecofeminism, I encourage you to observe the central (female) characters: Antigone, Minnie, and Nora. Integrate lines from the plays that hint at personality traits and make claims about the kind of women they are, the economic, political, domestic, pressure they experience, and the means they possess for resistance, rebellion, and resiliency. Write three paragraphs, the first for the play of your choice, the second for Glaspell’s Trifles, and the third comparing and contrasting the female characters and their reactions or resistance to systems of oppression and patriarchy.
Lastly consider crafting a hashtag for either Nora, Minnie or Antigone. See them as fighters and survivors as opposed to deeming them as victims of oppressive systems. We are familiar with powerful hashtag movements, such as #metoo, advocating for women’s rights and gender equality. But, if you were to create a hashtag about Minnie, Antigone, or Nora, what would your hashtag call for, denounce, or enunciate?
