For this paper, select just one of these articles,
and do three things: First, explain the basic argument of the paper.
Second, tell me what you think the biggest criticism of the paper is (that
is, how you think the argument could be criticized). Third, tell me
whether you think the author is ultimately right or wrong in what
they’re saying.
Some details:
The first part of the paper should be relatively easy – just explain the point of the paper.
This should take one to two pages. The second part is a critique of the paper. Don’t look on the
internet for this – just think about it. If you were going to challenge the paper, how would you
do it? Spell out the criticism, and why you think it matters. This should take about a page. In the
third part, you’re basically saying whether you think the criticism that you just discussed is
strong enough to say that the author is wrong, or if their point can hold up to the criticism and
still be right. This should take half a page or so.
