HR practices have changed tremendously over the past few decades – even the term Human Resources evolved from a previous era where the phrase, “Personnel Department” was used to denote the tasks of managing people in the workplace.
Human Resources will continue to evolve in scope, responsibility, and impact as organizations around the world also evolve toward reaching global capacities. One of the most exciting, yet also unknown, aspects of HR’s continued evolution is the direction Artificial Intelligence (AI) may continue to change the practice of HR. As mentioned in the introduction for Week 4; all aspects of Human Resources touch technology on a regular basis, from recruiting to selecting, on-boarding, training, developing, compensating, evaluating, tracking, promoting, and motivating employees, creating policy, and beyond technology is essential toward efficient operations of any HR group. With these realities in mind, it is important to understand why technology within the HR field must continue to be an investment priority for organizations.
Instructions
The tasks of not avoiding, but rather – understanding the impact of AI, on Human Resources will continue, at ever-increasing efficiencies. The contemporary 21st-century HR professional must explore how AI can become integrated into, and become integral toward, creating organizational competitive leverage.
Write a 4-6-page paper that explores avenues where AI, in human resources, might yield advantages.
Analyze how AI is used today, within Human Resources groups, by industry-leading organizations; select an industry (the choice is yours).
Specifically select any one of the following industries: manufacturing, finance, retail, agriculture/food makers, technology firms, transportation (air and/or ground), or entertainment, and describe how AI, from an HR perspective, is used today; for example, how is AI already used in areas such as recruiting applicants, selecting employees, training and development of employees, employee evaluations and career planning, or other important areas. Make certain you conduct real-world research into the current use of AI within the industry to be selected.
Evaluate how AI might be used.
Examine what areas of opportunity exist in introducing AI to an HR practice that does not already use it within the industry you selected.
Provide two to three examples of potential uses specifically relevant to the industry you selected.

Select four to five HR-related competitive advantages AI may deliver if integrated into HR practices for a firm in the industry you selected.
Consider Legal and/or Ethical Consideration Explain two legal and two ethical considerations – for a total of four discussions.
Include legal or ethical considerations you might introduce, or expand, AI into your HR practice – potentially including in an HRIS.
Integrate information to Make the Case:
Develop the case for introducing or expanding AI into an HR work environment from your current or past work experience.
Include elements such as strategy, risk, cost, benefits, and future use.
Provide a minimum of four scholarly or industry resources.
