-Read the article and complete the following areas of the paper. You may want to take notes in the article and focus on specific parts that stick out to you. You may also want to read these parts several times to get a better sense of the argument.
Paper Guidelines:
Introductory paragraph-One paragraph telling me which piece you chose and introducing the topics you are going to be talking about.
Summary-At least half of one page describing the article. Focus on the main argument of the work and provide some of the author’s supporting claims as well. You may use quotations from the text but try to tell me what the author is talking about in your own words. Do a little outside research and tell me something about the who the author is and the type of work they do.
Analysis- At least half a page discussing how the article you read relates to topics we covered in class. What was familiar to our discussions? What was new to you? In what ways is the author using their sociological imagination?
Critique- At least half a page of critique of the work. What are the strengths and weaknesses? Does the author(s) support their argument? How so or how not? Is the argument convincing? What could have been more clear?
Sociological imagination-At least a full page on the ways in which this topic relates, or does not relate, to your life. Apply what you have read to your own lived experiences. Do the themes in the article resonate with you? How so or how not? This is your chance to speak sociologically about your life and the way it connects to broader society. Show me what you have learned this semester in this section.
Conclusion-One paragraph wrapping up everything you have talked about and making your final points about what you learned from the article.
Citation Page-Using proper American Sociological Association (ASA) format, include a references page at the end of your article (not included in the page-length of the article). You should also use proper in-text citations for any quotes you use from the article. For a guide to the proper format, refer to the following link. http://lib.trinity.edu/research/citing/ASA_Style_C…
