Personal Reflection LIT 2120 Context: Reflect on what you did in class and what you learned. Review all your work and consider the experiences and accomplishments of the semester. Think about the assignments, activities, and reading selections that comprise the curriculum for the course. Purpose: To identify challenges and successes encountered in the course. Genre: Formal Reflection/Memoir essay Audience: yourself, classmates, and instructor. Task: Write a reflection in which you discuss your “take away” regarding this course. What have you learned? How did you grow? In what ways have you changed or improved? Criteria/Evaluation: The reflection should be no less than two pages (500 words) in length. Be sure to follow standard MLA manuscript format (MLA header, page numbering, margins, etc.) in composing the essay. Students may write in 1st person perspective. This assignment is “complete” or “needs revision,” so be sure to submit on time in case you need to tidy something up. Other evaluation criteria include your attention to avoiding structural, grammatical, and mechanical errors. Course Objectives: Read critically, interpret and appreciate literary texts of multiple genres. Explain how literary texts reflect and sometimes challenge the historical, social and cultural contexts in which they are embedded. Write about literary texts at a college level. Structure: Of course, this paper should have an introduction, body paragraphs, and a conclusion. Feel free to choose any of the questions that follow or invent your own. Remember to address one idea per body paragraph. Try not to be too harsh and avoid discussing the course or the instructor. Focus on your growth and development.
