Key Performance Indicators and Benchmarking

Re-read the instructions for the final project. Pay particularly close attention to step 10, “Compare the supply chain you are analyzing to an exemplar, standard, or benchmark.” The purpose of this assignment is to develop your KPIs and benchmarking strategy that you will use for your final project and get feedback on them.

Hint: make sure that your KPIs are relevant to measuring supply chain performance!

2) Find a standard or benchmark that you plan to use in a comparison to your selected supply chain. This could be a paper, such as one of the ones suggested above, or another company’s supply chain. Make sure the benchmark is relevant (e.g., don’t benchmark a military supply chain to Amazon.com; this is apples to oranges!).

3) Read the information on this site: Read the information on these two sites about preparing effective presentations. This is ungraded, and will assist you with the final presentation.

4) Submit the following (in APA format with appropriate references):

1) Summarize how you will benchmark your supply chain in 1-2 paragraphs. (Look up benchmarking if you are not sure of the definition.)

a) What company’s supply chain or paper will you use for the comparison?

b) What KPIs will you use (min. of 3)? How (specifically) are they measured? List them clearly in a bulleted list with an explanation and justification of each. (Note, these should be measured quantitatively.)

c) Why are these KPIs appropriate for this particular supply chain and how do they measure supply chain performance?
