Rev. 929 (1991) https://scholarlycommons.law.case.edu/caselrev/vol41/iss3/19 McFarlane discusses how the police fail to take appropriate action when it comes to domestic violence victims. Victims call the police several times before the violence reaches to homicide level, when the police refuse to do their job it can lead to death, kidnapping, rape, and torture for the victims. McFarlane explains what problems happen when the police doesn’t intervene with domestic violence victims can cause victims to not reach out for help and most cases leads to their deaths. McFarlane shares the same views on how police treat domestic violence victims as my paper. She also talks about the pros and cons of staying in domestic violence relationships and the resources provided. She also mentions how society plays a role in judging women who steal in abusive relationships. My paper talks about the different types of domestic abuse and what a domestic abuse Aguilar 2 relationship can look like. Arenella gives me a lot of factual information supporting what domestic violence is. In my paper I also will be talking about why victims stay with their abusers, Arenella gives me information on how society feels about women who stay, which helps support my claim that victims stay with their abusers because they don’t have a support system. Shimoni also talks about how the police would ignore the victims based on their race.
