The Quantity Surveying firm you work with has recently decided to digitalise their pre-contract cost planning activities such as cost planning, measurement and the preparation of bills of quantities. Based on your understanding of recent developments in construction industry digitalisation, you have been tasked to produce a report critically analysing and critiquing the implications of digitalisationon the Quantity Surveying profession. In producing this report, the following element are required:

a)The limitations of existing pre-contract cost planning practices in terms of project delivery, clientsatisfaction and financial risks. In this question, you are expected to critique existing pre-contract cost planning activities in terms of their capabilities to meet project objectives, clients’needs and manage risks

b)The application of Building Information Modelling (BIM) in the pre-contract cost planning phasesfor building construction projects. Essentially, highlight the pre-contract cost planning phasesand analyse how BIM can improve each phase.

c)Recommend digitalisation measures and applications for enhancing the pre-contract costplanning phase of building construction projects.

d)The future of the Quantity surveying profession and construction cost planning with and withoutdigitalization.
