Applied behavior analysis is conceptually systematic, meaning that it uses interventions that are derived from basic science principles (Baer et al., 1968). As such, it is important for clinicians to understand these core principles in order to be flexible in their creation of behavioral technologies to change behavior. The focus of this assignment will be for you to compare two different behavior analytic theories and evaluate the seminal (i.e. historical) and modern (i.e. current) experimental literature.

• During the first three weeks, you have been introduced to the Experimental Analysis of Behavior and some basic theories/hypotheses that can help explain the phenomenon of behavior. Using the Week 3 Presentation Template [PPTX], you will create a five-minute presentation to compare and contrast two behavior analytic theories. You can record your presentation using the voice over recording option in Microsoft PowerPoint, or you can use a video recording software such as Zoom, Loom, or Google Meet. Make sure to address the following components:

Slide One: What is the Experimental Analysis of Behavior?

Provide a brief overview of the field of experimental analysis of behavior.

Describe why EAB is important to the practice of behavior analysis.

Slide Two: Origins of EAB Research.

Describe the origins of EAB and its historical development.

1. Introduce a key researcher and their contributions to the field.

Slides Three and Four: Theory One and Two.

Present each theory individually.

1. Define the theory using behavior analytic terminology.
2. Discuss where the theory originated, citing its seminal research.
3. Slides Six and Seven: Application of Theory One and Theory Two.

Identify one article for each theory that uses it as a framework for a behavioral technology to change a behavior.

Discuss similarities and differences in their generalized application based on these examples.

1. Slide Eight: Comparison of Theory One and Two.
2. Compare and contrast the theories in terms of critical features, axioms, and applications.
3. Highlight any similarities and differences that exist.

Slide Nine: Ethical Guidelines of Animal Research.

Evaluate the ethical considerations and guidelines related to animal research citing the APA ethics guide for use of animals within research.

1. Discuss the importance of adherence to ethical guidelines when conducting research in general.
2. Slide Ten: Summary Conclusion.
3. Summarize the main points of your presentation including the key features of your chosen theories.
4. Highlight the contributions and significance of EAB research in understanding behavior.

Include any personal reflections on the topic.

Slide Eleven: References.

1. Include at least five scholarly, peer-reviewed references to support your evaluation of both theories.
2. Ensure that the references cover a diverse range of sources related to EAB research.
