MLA manuscript format—margins, font style (Times New Roman or Arial), double-spacing, name, creative title, and header Organization and Structure of the essay=____/25 o Clear introductory paragraph with background & development on the topic, leading up to the thesis which connects to the prompt. o Clear topic sentences for each paragraph, relating back to the thesis, answering the prompt. o Each paragraph has a main idea, supporting the thesis—all connects and answers the prompt. Paragraphs are not too long. o At least one opposing viewpoint and a rebuttal to it (transitional words and phrases used) o Clear beginning, middle and an end—nothing new is in the conclusion.
