Democracy in Action project.

Write a summary of the issue that you are working on for your Democracy in Action project. Describe what the issue is, who it impacts, what its immediate and underlying causes are, how it relates to other issues, and why it is related to democracy. You can also consider potential solutions (this is optional). Please use at least four reliable sources for this brief. These sources do not necessarily have to come from the PSU library or be peer-reviewed, but they should be trustworthy and backed-up by research. Please make sure you cite your sources in brief. You may use MLA, APA, or Chicago (footnote) citation format. Regardless of the format you choose, you must have both an in-text reference and a bibliography of your sources at the end of the piece. Please do not invent a citation format.

Your group should think about whether or not you will have access to someone with first-hand experience doing this type of labor and/or if you will be able to find other first-hand accounts. You should also consider how difficult it might be to find data on your topic before you select it. 

Conduct research on your topic. You must find the following information:

Estimates of how many people are engaged in this type of labor

What the working conditions are like

Why people may choose to perform this type of labor

• What the key challenges or issues are
• How society views this labor/Why it remains invisible

How people attempt to improve their working conditions
