For this assignment, you will write a paper about a mock crime. The assignment will have three parts. All parts will be combined and submitted within the same document.
Part 1
Write an introduction that includes the following information:
Describe a victim and a suspect.
Identify setting and location information for the crime to occur (example: indoor in a house or outdoor at a park).
Describe what crime was committed.
Part 2
Imagine you are the investigator who has arrived at the crime scene you wrote about in Part 1. You meet with the deputy and begin collecting information from the scene. Write about the actions you will take, including
an explanation of the purpose of your initial walk-through;
a list of three items that you will take from the scene as evidence;
for each of the items you collect as evidence, describe the proper measurement technique that you will use (given the scene boundaries of the setting you wrote about in Part 1; and
an explanation of the type of packaging protocol you will use in regard to primary or secondary containers, while following the chain of custody.
Part 3
Create either a mock sketch or find a mock online photograph of one item of evidence that you supposedly found at your mock scene. Label it as Exhibit A.
The combined length of the assignment (Parts 1, 2, and 3) must be three pages in length. APA Style is not required for Parts 1 and 2. However, if a photograph is provided in Part 3, you must include an APA Style reference for the original source of the photograph.
